Mission
Peaceful Souls Animal Rescue and Recovery is dedicated to assisting the public with recovering lost animals, providing guidance for found animals and partnering with other resources and rescues to ensure that any non-owned animals are cared for in a rescue environment until they find their forever home.
Vision
To ensure the well-being of all companion animals, saving one soul at a time, while concentrating on ending overpopulation, abuse, neglect and the need for unwarranted euthanasia.
About Peaceful Souls
Peaceful Souls Animal Rescue and Recovery was founded in 2019 by a group of individuals passionate about animal welfare. We are an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All of the recovery services that we offer are completely free of charge. Please see the “Our Services” section for detailed information.
As we all know, animal shelters are generally at capacity. While it is not safe for dogs to run the streets, Peaceful Souls does not want to contribute to the issue by continually adding more to over-crowded shelters. Our short-term goal is to operate as a true rescue in addition to offering recovery services. As a rescue, we will work with a network of fosters/adopters that will help with the goal of keeping recovered dogs out of shelters as well as pulling other at-risk dogs from shelters once we are on approved rescue lists. We will partner with Indianapolis Animal Care Services to ensure that all recovered dogs kept under our care are held for the mandatory stray hold period and properly recorded with the city and lost pet social media sites to allow for the best chance for owners to find them.
As a long-term goal, we will be looking for property to build a small shelter where non-owned dogs that we contain as strays can be housed for medical care, initial stray hold and then until a foster/adopter is found. This will further relieve the stress on the overcrowded city and county shelters. We will partner with Indianapolis Animal Care Services on proper protocol for this goal. This goal is a large undertaking and will require substantial time and funding in the future.
As our vision statement notes, we are concentrating on saving one soul at a time while collaborating with other organizations that specialize in controlling overpopulation and addressing abuse/neglect situations. We believe that we can help mitigate the need for unwarranted euthanasia by partnering with other organizations and helping to address the underlying issues as our expertise allows. No single organization can solve all animal welfare issues independently, it takes a collaborative effort.
